On Thursday 15th October the 200 day Grainfed Angus from Australia of the brand ‘1788’ from Jan Zandbergen World-Wide Quality in Meat won a Gold medal at the World Steak Challenge 2015 in London. 70 steaks, representing 10 different countries, entered this ultimate test . Of these, 17 producers qualified to be Silver standard quality medal winners and 11 qualified as Gold standard quality medal winners.

From all over the world steak producers, cattle farmers and ranchers, beef processors, steak brands and beef wholesalers represented their country and took part on this global competition.
This year it was all about the sirloin steak – also known in some countries as the striploin. Each loin per individual steak entry, was cut on-site by a butcher into the correct thickness of steak for the judging process. The technical testing covered two areas, raw and cooked. The live judging took place in London, Hyde Park.
